A sulphur miner climbs out of Kawah Ijen with half his daily load of sulphur in East Java, Indonesia. Sulphur ore, used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, is mined by hand from an active volcanic crater. The miners leave their homes well before dawn to walk almost 20km from their village to the crater, earning approximately U.S. $7 per day.
