Shekeba, who is illiterate, is in prison because she left her first husband thinking she had a legal divorce, and married another man. Khairiya is in prison for running away from home with her boyfriend, who her parents had not chosen for marriage. Many of the women are in prison with their children for these so-called "love crimes."
